Evaluation Question 6 "What have you learnt about technologies in the process of constructing your film?"

During the process of making our film opening I have learnt about vast amount of different electronic devices, software and programmes as well as learning lots of skills which have helped improve my technological ability.

During the planning and research stage of our production, I have used Blogger to keep track of all the prgress we were making in the group. I also used social media such as Twitter and Facebook to communicate with Billy and Alisha to arrange days to film, and upload photos so we can put them onto blogger; such as images of the location and props that we used, we used Google maps to show the possible locations (Ponders End or Harlow), so we could show the area for what it was and how it was relevant to our production. During the planning stages we also researched familiar films and genre background so our work was more appropriate to our target audience. To do this we used YouTube and other popular video sharing services such as Love Film.

During the production process we used a Canon EOS 500d camera, and we used this as the camera produced a better quality and offered more camera skills such as manually adjusting the focus, aperture and exposure; also we could interchange lenses, to show different points of view. We also used a microphone during the production stages, we used a microphone to record horrible messages towards Alisha to be layered and edited into a sound collage. I also researched into using fonts on for the title, and downloaded and installed a font from "Dafont". Once all the different sound files were recorded Billy edited them on a programme called ‘Sound Editor’ and placed them into ‘MixPad’ where he created the sound collage. The editing stages of our production could only take place after all our video files had been converted into the correct format (mp4 Video), and to do this we used ‘File Converter’ once all the files had been converted we then imported them to ‘Premiere’. When using a lot of the software, we had limited skills, and we got to improve upon those.

In our post production stage we used many different elements of software. For example we became very familiar with Adobe Premier Pro, we used this to cut, colour grade and add in sound to our opening, we used this on our Preliminary Excercise and also in our GCSE work on a music video, we use knowledge from these tasks to help us. I also used Adobe Photoshop CS5
